Cheat To Win Reviews

FORBES, BUSINESS WIRE - Bob MacDonald, Author and Founder of LifeUSA, to Keynote at A.M. Best's E-Fusion 2005 Conference

Robert W. "Bob" MacDonald, a founder of LifeUSA and author of a new contrarian guide to insurance, business and life, will deliver the Tuesday keynote address at E-Fusion 2005, A.M. Best Co.'s fall conference on insurance, operations and technology. E-Fusion 2005 will be held Monday, Oct. 17 and Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing. MacDonald led LifeUSA from its founding in 1987 through its sale to Allianz AG in 1999, retiring in 2003. He recently authored "Cheat to Win: The Honest Way to Break All the Dishonest Rules in Business," a wide-ranging, humor-filled book that recounts his career in insurance and dispenses management and business advice -- with a twist.

In recommending a "cheat to win" approach, MacDonald advises how to identify and overcome the handicaps put on others through conventional thinking, bureaucrats who seek to retain their power and those who fear the impact of fresh thinking and new ideas.

"The customary mantra uttered anytime someone tries to do something a little different and out of the norm is ... you can't do that! All of us have been told this at one time or another," MacDonald writes. The only way to be honest with yourself and others is to go against the dishonest rules that are imposed on us by others.”

"Bob MacDonald is a high-energy, insightful insurance industry expert who takes what you know and turns it on its head," said Lee McDonald, program conference chairman for the E-Fusion Conference. "He's got some startling ideas on how to seize the untapped potential of technology and apply it to the new opportunities that are emerging in the life and retirement-savings industries."

In his career, MacDonald built a successful sales agency for Jefferson-Pilot, served as director of marketing support for State Mutual of America, and was chief marketing officer, chief operating officer, then president and CEO of Minneapolis-based ITT Life, prior to forming LifeUSA. MacDonald currently runs CTW Consulting (http://www.ctwconsulting.com) and serves on several corporate boards.

The E-Fusion Conference (http://www.efusion2005.com) brings together insurers, technologists and thought leaders to examine the latest developments in technology and risk. At the conclusion of the event, judges name recipients of the E-Fusion Awards to companies.
